Zach - I went to a really interesting mall by Herzog and de Meuron in Munich - the Funf Hofe. I have photos if you want to see, it's a really different design and is embedded in quite a dense urban area similar to your site.

interesting to note that one of the reasons malls don't have windows to outside, and are covered is so that people don't notice the passing of time - you probably already know this, but wonder if it will be something you will consider in your design
